DUKES ST. JAMES LONDON creates ‘The Jubilee Martini’ in celebration of The Queen’s forthcoming Diamond Jubilee
DUKES ST. JAMES LONDON are delighted to toast Her Majesty the Queen on her forthcoming Diamond Jubilee with an exquisite limited edition martini, created by the hotel’s legendary head barman Alessandro Palazzi.Available from 1st June, the ‘Jubilee Martini’ will be offered in the classic setting of the DUKES Bar, famously, the location where Sir Ian Fleming wrote the infamous James Bond line ‘shaken not stirred’. Created using only the finest British ingredients, in honour of her majesty, the drink will also be served in crystal cut antique glasses from the Queen’s 1953 coronation.
To create the wonderfully British cocktail, Alessandro worked together with the vintage wine exchange to source rare ‘Booth’s’ Gin from the 1970’s; significant as ‘Booth’s’ gin is historically known as a favourite of both Her Majesty the Queen, and Her Late Majesty, Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother and bears the red lion as the brand logo. A rare find, this spirit is in limited supply therefore the DUKES ‘Jubilee martini’ will only be available for a short period of time until Alessandro’s special stock runs out, so be quick!
Created in front of the guests on Alessandro’s renowned martini trolley, hand mixed vermouth, made using an aperitif wine from Kent and Somerset wormwood is used to line the Coronation glass before the ‘Booths’ Gin is added. Following this, ‘Sacred’ Cherry liquor, created using the oil from over 100 cherry stones, is sprayed, using an antique perfume bottle on to the martini to create a subtle, classic and feminine flavour. The martini is then garnished with a twist of lemon peel and served to perfection.
‘I wanted to create a martini in honour of Her Majesty that would exude British Heritage; therefore I worked with various suppliers to source premium ingredients from across the UK, using elements known to be favourites of the Queen. I also visited various antiques markets to source the glasses and the perfume bottle especially for the occasion’ commented Alessandro.
The Jubilee martini at DUKES ST. JAMES LONDON will be available from the 1st June 2012, priced at £22.50
