The Garden Cafe goes al fresco offering outdoor dining for lunch steps away from fashionable Park Avenue
The Garden Café at the Kitano New York Hotel announces the opening of its sidewalk café on May 23rd, 2011. Bistro style seating will be placed along East 38th Street just off Park Avenue at the restaurant’s entrance. The Garden Café’s sidewalk café will be open Monday through Friday for lunch and dinner from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. In keeping with its concept of Modern American cuisine using only locally grown ingredients; the Garden Café’s new menu will feature a host of favorites including salads, specialty sandwiches, entrées of fresh seafood, free range chicken and homemade desserts.Located in the heart of historic and quaint Murray Hill, the Garden Café resides in a charming historic town home fabled to have been a residence of a Carnegie daughter. Its ornate stone façade and wrought iron gates transport diners to the turn-of-the-century New York of the Astors, Lunts, Murrays and Morgans. Just in time for summer the Garden Café offers a quiet respite for al fresco dining far away from the congestion and crowds of uptown sidewalk cafés.
The Kitano New York opened its doors in 1973 as New York’s first Japanese hotel. Thirty seven years later it remains the first and only Japanese-owned hotel and has become an integral part of one of Manhattan’s historic neighborhoods, Murray Hill. Located on fashionable Park Avenue at 38th Street, the 18-story hotel towers over some of New York City’s most magnificent turn-of-the-century dwellings, offering spectacular views of some of city landmarks. The hotel features 149 guestrooms, including 17 contemporary suites and a one-of-a-kind Japanese Tatami Suite. The Kitano New York is home to the critically acclaimed Michelin-rated Hakubai restaurant where traditional Kaiseki delicacies are served. The Kitano New York is also home to live Jazz music featuring live performances by legendary Jazz musicians who descend upon the hotel’s bar lounge weekly to perform classic and contemporary Jazz music. The Kitano New York is a member of Summit Hotels & Resorts, a consortium of deluxe hotels worldwide.
