London hotels to seat 1,000 or more delegates


Organisers of larger conferences and banquets now have more choice in the London area. This is a thumbnail description of what they offer. Central London

Grosvenor House
The doyenne of the large conference hotels in London is Grosvenor House, a JW Marriott Hotel that has recently had tens of millions of pounds spent on refurbishing its conference and banqueting facilities. It has over 30 rooms and until the recent crop of newer properties in the region, it was always the first to come to mind when planning a big event. The Great Room alone can seat up to 2,000.

Hilton London Metropole Hotel
Even though it is located centrally in the West End of London, the Hilton London Metropole is one of Europe’s largest conference hotels. It is in walking distance of Paddington Station, Oxford Street and Hyde Park, with good underground connections to Heathrow.
Its function rooms enable it to cater for events of up to 3,000 people. Lancaster London
Views from the very central Lancaster London can give a guest the impression of being way out in the country, as it stands high alongside Hyde Park. With 416 guestrooms and function suites to accommodate up to 3,000, it has long been a favourite venue for larger events.

Novotel London West
This 4-star hotel in Hammersmith, on the way into the city from Heathrow, has 35 meeting spaces, with the largest able to accommodate up to 1000 delegates. There are 630 guestrooms and two restaurants.

Park Plaza Westminster Bridge
A welcome recent arrival on the London conference scene is Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London Hotel. Many of its 1,019 rooms have views over the Houses of Parliament and the London Eye. It is conveniently located alongside Waterloo Station.
It has a pillar-free ballroom for up to 1,400 delegates or 1,000 diners. There are 30 additional function rooms.

London Heathrow

Hilton London Heathrow Terminal 5
The latest addition to this list is Hilton London Heathrow Terminal 5. It stands in landscaped gardens and is close not only to the airport terminals, but also to the M4 and M25.
Special attention has been paid, of course, to soundproofing and the guestrooms have been designed very much with business in mind. They have work areas with ergonomic desks and chairs.
The largest of its conference rooms can seat up to 1,170 delegates.

Sofitel Heathrow Terminal 5
Sofitel Heathrow Terminal 5 has rapidly gained a substantial reputation for its direct access to Terminal 5 and its extensive conference facilities. The Arora Suite can seat 1,300 delegates – and there are 45 other meeting rooms, as well as a Lecture Theatre with a widescreen cinema.
