When former US President Bill Clinton came to stay, the management even went to the trouble of installing a nuclear shelter in his suite. And how about the cinema night staged each Monday in a dedicated ultra-comfortable 14-seater screening room, with a package that includes a two-course dinner for a great value £35 a head?

Constant investment maintains standards and continual upgrading the meetings’ facilities is always high on the agenda. At present there are a dozen dedicated function rooms, each beautifully appointed and featuring the latest hi-tech amenities. The largest facility is the imposing Radcliffe Room, which can seat up to 300 theatre-style and graciously combines traditional elegance with sophisticated contemporary facilities to ensure smooth running events.

Ideal for smaller meetings of up to 30 attendees are the Repton, Wyatt and Chantrell Oval rooms, which have hosted such luminaries as Vladimir Gorbachev and several British prime ministers, as well as Bill Clinton.

Work is currently under way on a bigger, more luxurious spa that will feature a new pool and another 11 treatment rooms, as well as its own health-conscious restaurant.

Set in 300 acres of carefully groomed private parkland, woods and landscaped gardens close to the busy historic Yorkshire spa town of Harrogate, Rudding Park is as welcoming for spectacular outdoor events as it is for glamorous indoor occasions. Marquees on the lawn add sparkle for the biggest occasions.

A key amenity is the delightful par-72, 18-hole Hawtree golf course while the six-hole Repton course features a replica of the notorious 17th hole at the famed Sawgrass course in Florida.

The property lies just three miles from Harrogate centre and within half-an-hour of the A1(M) / M1 motorway network. Leeds-Bradford Airport and direct express trains from London King’s Cross makes convenience a great selling point. As General Manager Peter Banks puts it: 'We offer the right product at the right place and in a beautiful setting.

'We have vibrant Leeds and historic York on our doorstep while Harrogate is a real winner.'

Elegant Harrogate has been busily emphasising its status as one of Europe’s premier spa towns. Its property prices are soaring to Home Counties levels, its streets are lined with expensive cars. It boasts a West End Class high-end designer-label boutique shopping experience, trendy restaurants, bars, coffee lounges and tearooms and a wealth of excellent things to see and do for residents and visitors alike.

Harrogate re-born is stylish and highly fashionable and geared to the good life, having recently been voted ‘Britain’s Happiest Place To Live’ for the third year in a row.

Downtown there’s the hustle and bustle of a true metropolis while a sense of comfortable, well-ordered prosperity pervades the leafy suburbs, where conservative comes in both big ‘C’ and little ‘c’ formats.

Yet, for all its fast tempo modernity, Harrogate is bathed in history, too, with a rich heritage of stunning Georgian, Regency and Victorian architecture reflecting earlier peaks in the popularity of taking its waters.
