ITCM enjoys the buzz around myhotel Brighton

At least 50 young men raced by on roller skates, roller blades and skateboards, many with illuminations on their backs and hats. Then a group passed by dressed as if for a Carnival, the girls with coloured net stockings and the men sporting a variety of crazy headware.
It was a continuous parade and it was all past the window of Carluccio’s restaurant on the opposite side of the street to the myhotel.
The occasion? No occasion, just a normal evening in the Cultural Quarter of Brighton. Is there any other part of the UK that has such a buzz?

St Ermin’s is a one-off central London hotel with a flavour of its own

Bees and a balcony combine to create an unrivalled experience

Afternoon tea business in London hotels is buzzing, but nowhere so much as at St Ermin’s Hotel in Caxton Street, SW1. On the hotel roof are hives – where as many as 10,000 bees are busy making the honey that goes with the scones and butter for the hotel guests.
Caxton Street is a very special location, but one immediately wonders where the bees find the flowers for their pollen collections. Well, thank you, Your Majesty, for being so generous with your flowers in the gardens of Buckingham Palace. And, if you look at a map of London, you will see that St Ermin’s Hotel, as the bee flies, is virtually next door to St James Park.

Marriott County Hall

ITCM spent a memorable night at the London Marriott County Hall

If you are planning to take a group to London to see the historic sights, why not choose to stay in one?
The London Marriott County Hall is one of the capital’s most impressive buildings –inside as well as outside. ITCM was combining a visit to a London hotel with an after-dark trip on the EDF Energy London Eye. We didn’t realise how possible it is to combine the two. We were fortunate enough to have a guest room that has its own balcony. Sitting there, we were within a couple of metres of the Eye’s pods as they slowly passed our room. A slight look to the left and we were face to face with Big Ben* on the other side of the river.

The Bristol Hotel in Bristol offers high value at low cost

image

ITCM enjoyed a visit to a Bristol waterfront Irish property with a self-contained conference centre

Where better to have a Bristol Hotel than in Bristol? And this Bristol Hotel is remarkably central, so much so that it is almost its only drawback. The centre of the city is a maze of one-way streets, designed as if expressly to ensure that all traffic goes down every possible combination of roads before reaching its destination.

The Cumberland is a 1000-room success

ITCM experiences a London hotel that can please everyone all of the time

The Cumberland is a hotel for all seasons. It’s a star playing many different parts. It commands a prominent position in a prime London location. Marble Arch. It is on Oxford Street, everyone’s favourite shopping area. It is opposite the entrance to Hyde Park. It has extensive meetings facilities. ‘It does therefore’, says Tim Cordon, General Manager since September 2010, ‘draw guests from every sector for all kinds of reasons.’
