A Beachcomber hotel that has an unrivalled location on MauritiusTrou Aux Biches was always one of the most luxurious, relaxing and enjoyable resorts on the island of Mauritius. Now that it has had several million dollars spent on a refurbishment, it is even more enticing.
It has not only the location and the facilities to give it a claim to being one of the most ideal incentive destinations, but it has many years experience in hosting discriminating groups from Europe, the USA and Australia.
Trou Aux Biches is one of Beachcomber’s eight hotels on the island. Beachcomber is a Mauritian company that was one of the very first to set up international hotels and which knows very well how to select the best spots for its properties. Its location is in the North West of the island, not too far from the concentration of shops, markets and restaurants of Grand Baie.
Trou Aux Biches comprises a plantation of chalet-style villas, with no high rise modern structures in sight, all set in a tropical garden of 35 hectares (90 acres). . It has the appearance of a local village, using local building materials, along a length of beach of white sand.
Here the waters of the Indian Ocean are warm and turquoise in a crystal clear lagoon. However, the villas offer luxurious comfort. They have private pools, but there is also a large pool that is the centrepiece of the main public areas.
There are six restaurants with indoor and outdoor dining areas and they offer a wide choice of casual snacks, buffet meals and fine dining, with cuisines, from Asian to European and international, including Thai, Indian and Italian.
There is a 3,000sqm Spa by Clarins that has 20 cabins, a balneotherapy room, an algotherapy room, two hammams, two saunas and a relaxation pool.
All the favourite land and water sports are available at the resort’s own sports centre. The resort also has a special meetings room that can accommodate 150 people, but there is usually no problem in selecting a quiet outdoor area under the palm trees for receptions, networking or informal meetings.
Of special value for incentives and event organisers is the All Inclusive Package. This can include accommodation, breakfast, lunch and dinner; unlimited local drinks; unlimited house wine from the main bar between 10 in the morning to 11 at night; and half a bottle of wine per person at lunch and dinner.
With this special arrangement, organisers know in detail in advance exactly the total cost of an event; and their individual delegates and guests are not presented with substantial bills at the end of their stay.
