YourGolfTravel duo head shortlist for top business award

In 2005 Ross Marshall and Andrew Harding maxed out their credit cards to fund the launch of golf travel operator YourGolfTravel.com.
But such has been the rapid progress of the London-based duo’s business that they have now been nominated for the prestigious Ernst & Young 2012 Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
The award recognises innovation and success which has been the driving force for Marshall and Harding, who saw company revenue soar to £35m last year, and the 2012 winners will be announced at a ceremony on June 28.

From an initial team of three, YourGolfTravel.com now employs more than 100 people and the firm's outstanding year-on-year fiscal growth is a testament to their strong leadership and application since they launched the business.

Marshall and Harding, who started the brand based on their own sporting passions, are dedicated to the company mission of providing low-cost golf breaks and holidays at championship courses in the UK and abroad with a great customer service focus, for which they have been repeatedly recognised in The Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100.

Marshall said: “In testing times, this is a fantastic effort by all our team.  We have now firmly established the business as Europe’s largest golf travel retailer and our group brands have also grown significantly and trade with distinction.”

Playing an active part in golf’s wider community, the pioneering duo also work in partnership with a number of charitable organisations and Marshall and Harding were proud to recently announce YourGolfTravel.com’s campaign to raise funds and awareness for The Seve Ballesteros Foundation – part of Cancer Research UK.

Their fundraising efforts have already seen them take part in the 2012 London Marathon before the launch of Seve Day in July, when they are hoping to raise more than £1 million to fight brain cancer.

For more than two decades, the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of The Year awards have celebrated entrepreneurship in all its forms, locally and internationally, with the programme achieving worldwide recognition.
