Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre scoops two awards at MEA National Awards
Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) won the major venue award at this year’s Meetings and Events Australia (MEA) National Awards in Sydney this week.Operated by leading international venue management group, AEG Ogden, BCEC was named Australia’s best Meeting Venue - 500 Delegates or More from a highly competitive national field of entries in recognition of an outstanding performance in the period under review.
BCEC was also very pleased to be judged as joint winner with Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre of the Corporate Social Responsibility Award (over 30 full time employees).
These latest accolades add to an already momentous year for the Centre following the highly successful launch of its $140 million expansion, BCEC on Grey Street which provides the Centre with 52% more convention space and positions it as Australia’s most flexible meetings and events venue.
This is the first time the Centre has participated in the MEA Awards since its induction into the MEA Hall of Fame back in 2005. BCEC General Manager, Bob O’Keeffe said winning the coveted Meeting Venue – 500 Delegates or more was an impressive endorsement of the Centre’s relentless commitment to operational and service excellence.
“We are particularly proud of jointly winning the CSR award. This is an area of key focus for us and it is one that involves our entire staff and from which we receive immense satisfaction.”
“These awards provide an important showcase for Australia’s business events industry and present a high profile for industry leadership and professionalism. MEA are to be congratulated for their contribution and commitment to this process,” he said.
Mr O’Keeffe offered congratulations to all national winners and finalists.
