The award comes following a £15m investment and partnership between Levy Restaurants UK and ExCeL London to deliver a pioneering new hospitality proposition.
Over the last eighteen months, the venue has been working to revolutionise its food and drink offering, making it modern, innovative and inspiring. New concepts on the central boulevard now include River Cottage Deli (a collaboration with Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and his iconic brand) The Bridge restaurant, and ‘E16’, a new artisan coffee shop and onsite working bakery which bakes the bread, cakes and pastries available to visitors across the venue.
‘We are absolutely delighted to receive this award,’ says Jeremy Rees, Executive Director at ExCeL London. ‘After two years of work, we’re excited to share the results of our investment in food and drink; all part of our ambition to deliver the best possible event experience at ExCeL. We firmly believe that great food really matters and this accolade is a fantastic recognition of our team’s hard work over the last year.”
Kevin Watson, who is the Director of Catering at ExCeL London Hospitality says “This award is testament to our commitment to delivering a modern vision of venue hospitality, putting food and drink at the heart of the visitor experience. Led by our extremely talented executive chef, James Buckley, we have developed a unique proposition in the industry, further strengthening ExCeL’s reputation as the home of world leading events.”
