Corporate planners get behind Ice Awards

In-house event teams from over 60 leading brands have signed-up to enter the second International Corporate Events (ICE) Awards since the programme opened at the start of the year.
Exclusively honouring internal corporate event teams and departments, the ICE Awards’ inaugural programme in 2015 produced a clutch of global brand winners that included BNP Paribas, Colgate-Palmolive, Euromoney and Twitter.

ICE Awards’ Producer Anita Howard said: “We are so excited to see the high calibre of last year’s entrants is being matched for 2016. Equally impressive is the volume of enquiries we’ve already received in what is still the early stage of the entry period. The number of in-house teams that have approached us proves unequivocally that corporate planners are hungry for the credit they so obviously deserve for their work.”

Organised in association with the Event Marketing Association (EMA), the ICE Awards are being sponsored by a raft of leading event supplier companies including The Barbican, London & Partners and the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC). Headline sponsor is restaurant, bar and venue guide, Square Meal.

Richard Waddington, Chair of the EMA said: “Our members’ teams function quite independently from the other departments within their organisations – which may be within the Financial Services, Telecomms, Automotive - or any other sector. We’re delighted to be associated with the ICE Awards and see this as an opportunity for EMA members to be understood as well as recognised within their organisations for the work they do.”

Kathleen Warden, Director of Conference Sales at the SECC said: “With so much focus on event agencies it’s great to see in-house teams in line for awards. These people bear the full responsibility for their events’ success, and have to meet long-term business objectives beyond what happens on the day, so public recognition for their role is long overdue.”

Nine event-type categories have been published on the ICE Awards website, including Best Sponsorship Activation Event, Best Use of Technology and Best Leadership Event. In addition, a single category honours individual performance - the Rising Star Award. Entry to the Awards is free, and any in-house team from any industry sector can enter.

Anita Howard added: “In-house teams are newcomers to the awards process and with this in mind we’ve appointed a group of ICE Ambassadors, who are available to assist nervous entrants in the early stages of putting their submissions together.”

The Awards event itself has been deliberately designed to offer a fun networking opportunity at an impactful venue - this year’s event takes place at the V&A on Wednesday 14 July.
