The 21st annual Business Travel Awards, hosted by Buying Business Travel, celebrated the achievements of travel industry leaders with over 1200 people attending this year’s gala event. An independent panel of judges, including respected senior business travel buyers, carefully selected the best and most innovative brands from the travel industry.
Richard Oliver, Country Manager, UK & Ireland, said; “It has been another fantastic year of growth for Qatar Airways, with not only a number of new routes announced but the continued expansion of our fleet which includes the Boeing 787, Airbus A380 and the Airbus A350. This award reiterates the quality of our renowned service and our commitment to our customers and we are honoured that the panel of judges recognised Qatar Airways as Best Long Haul Airline when compared to other carriers in this highly competitive market.”
Richard Oliver was presented with the award by actor, comedian and writer Hugh Dennis, best known for the BBC One sitcom Outnumbered and as a regular panelist on BBC Two’s satirical comedy show Mock the Week.
Qatar Airways will operate a new service between Birmingham and Doha from 30th March 2016, adding to its existing services from London Heathrow, Manchester and Edinburgh. With eight flights a week, including two flights on Saturdays, passengers travelling to and from Birmingham will have access to convenient and seamless transfers at the airline’s state-of-the-art hub Hamad International Airport.
When flying with Qatar Airways passengers can look forward to a one-stop transfer at the airline’s hub Hamad International Airport (HIA), home of Qatar Airways. The airport houses one of the world’s largest and most luxurious Business Class lounges – the Al Mourjan Business Lounge - and also has over 40,000 square metres of retail space and restaurants that includes a selection of more than 70 retail and 30 food and beverage outlets.
Qatar Airways currently serves more than 150 key business and leisure destinations across six continents. From 1st January the airline began services to Los Angeles and became the first airline in the world to operate an Airbus A350 to America on the Philadelphia route.
In December 2015 the airline launched its new global brand campaign and tagline ‘Going Places Together’. This is a new and fresh direction for the airline, which has developed a messaging strategy to reflect its evolution as a brand and its role as a leader in the airline industry. At the heart of the campaign is the concept of the airline connecting people both physically and emotionally, the theme of connectivity extends to the warm welcome every passenger receives when they board a Qatar Airways flight from the friendly and helpful cabin crew who are hand-picked for their natural ability to make personal connections with every passenger they meet.
