Two members of the Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events team at The John Smith’s Stadium, Huddersfield, scooped awards at the annual Star Awards, organised by Sodexo.
The Star Awards ceremony is the highlight of the Sodexo calendar and recognises the most outstanding of its 34,000 employees across 23 categories.
And, among the winners at the event, which was hosted by comedian and television personality Patrick Kielty at London’s Westminster Park Plaza Hotel, were The John Smith’s Stadium’s general manager Julie Tandy and head chef Colin Oakley.
The pair saw off competition from venues across the UK to be named joint winners of the Contract Design and Management Awards, recognising their success in promoting the stadium as a leading conference and event venue and engaging with corporate clients.
Neil Murray, regional chairman, Sodexo UK and Ireland, said: “The Star Awards is the pinnacle of our year because it gives us, as an organisation, the opportunity to truly recognise and thank our people for their hard work and dedication.
“Every day should be about making our employees feel valued and involved in the organisation’s progress. As a services company we truly rely on our people to deliver quality services to our customers and clients.”
The John Smith’s Stadium is home to Huddersfield Town Football Club and Huddersfield Giants Rugby League Club and boasts some of the most spacious and versatile facilities in West Yorkshire. These range from single hospitality boxes – designed for up to 10 guests and boasting views of the pitch – to the Revell Ward Suite, which can easily cater for up to 450.
