Charnwood has assisted more than 100 unemployed young people and adults into jobs through its work experience placement scheme, run in conjunction with Job Centre Plus. This introductory training programme equips them with a suite of compliance and accredited certificates, covering essential skills in hospitality, such as licensed hospitality, health and safety, customer service and food production.
The Fair Train Work Experience Quality Standard is funded by the UKCES, with its frameworks developed in collaboration with key government departments, trade unions, LEPs, charities, the National Careers Service, employers and work experience organisers.
Fair Train’s Gold Standard is awarded to training providers able to demonstrate exemplar performance in employment practices, including commitment to the progression of learners, supportive supervision and work experience management for the duration of the placement. It is also symbolic of dedication to the progression and development of a learner’s skills.
Speaking of the accreditation, Julie Millott, Fair Train’s employer engagement and skills coach for the East Midlands, said: “We are delighted that Charnwood Training has received the Gold Standard for its quality work experience programmes. The hospitality sector attracts many young people who may be at the start of their career path, therefore it is vital that the training they receive is of a high quality. A young person on a work experience, traineeship or apprenticeship programme with Charnwood can be assured that they are getting well planned and supportive training. Charnwood is also committed to helping them make the successful transition into paid employment. Congratulations Charnwood Training!”
Anne Ashworth, Charnwood’s head of quality, said: "I'm really proud that Charnwood has received this award which demands such high achievement. A huge amount of work goes into providing meaningful work experience placements for unemployed people and as results show, it is highly valuable and fit for purpose for both our learners and employers in the industry. I would like to congratulate staff from our Hospitality Work Academy team, who arrange and support these placements.”
