World Obesity Federation recognised with first SECC Associate Award

The World Obesity Federation is the first recipient of the SECC Associate Awards for its ground breaking International Congress on Obesity. The award, launched by the SECC last month, includes a bursary for the association that will allow an additional five delegates to attend World Obesity educational events.

The award was received by Chris Trimmer, Executive Director of World Obesity, who commented: “We’re delighted to be the first organisation to receive this award, it’s a tremendous initiative and means we can bring more people to our events that would not normally have the chance. This is crucial in our ambition to share knowledge, create solutions and engender positive action around this important subject.

“I’m always delighted by the positive feedback we get from our delegates at the Congress, but to also get critical acclaim from the industry itself is hugely satisfying and I can’t thank the SECC enough for this,” she continued.

“World Obesity stages brilliant events that demonstrate the organisation’s passion and commitment to its subject,” comments Kathleen Warden, Conference Sales Director at the SECC. “The Associates initiative is about rewarding great events that make an impact on the professions they serve. However, Chris’ leadership of the organisation, its Congress and events should be applauded; they make a huge difference to people’s lives around the world and should be recognised for this contribution.”

The ‘Associates of the SECC’ awards are presented to association meetings that, through their content, have made significant impacts on their own professional community, as well as for the wider public good.
