Seaham Hall hotel, Co Durham, has not only been awarded five AA star status, but its recently launched Byron’s Bar and Grill has also been granted two AA rosettes.
The awards come just months after the hotel was voted Small Hotel of The Year 2013 at the North East Tourism Awards – completing a hat trick of successes in less than a year.
“This is a fantastic achievement for us and testimony to the hard work and dedication of our superb team of staff,” said general manager Ross Grieve.
“It is virtually unheard of to win two such huge awards simultaneously so we are, understandably, delighted.”
The five star status puts the 20-suite hotel and Serenity Spa among the UK’s top hotels and was the result of a number of visits by AA inspectors over several months.
During each visit all departments of the hotel – which was the former marital home of Lord Byron and is one of the region’s leading wedding and conference venues - were inspected on their standards of service, cleanliness and quality.
Giovanna Grossi FIH, AA Hotel Services Group Area Manager said: “We are delighted to recognise Seaham Hall as a Five Star Hotel.
“The level of recent investment into the property is impressive and future plans for continued development are commendable.
“The hotel offers luxury accommodation, excellent service from a well-managed, dedicated team of friendly staff, impressive Spa facilities and high quality food across two contrasting restaurants, both of which have been recognised with AA rosettes.”
