Kyoto Convention Bureau sees 11% increase in membership
Kyoto Convention Bureau sees significant increase in membership as incoming meeting, incentive and conference business grows.Kyoto Convention Bureau has seen an 11% increase in membership as the conference, events and incentive markets continues to grow. The city is becoming a popular centre for global events and conferences which has resulted in increased demand for venues, services and infrastructure.
Since March 2012, the number of members has grown from 244 to 270.
Established in 1990, Kyoto Convention Bureau works to promote and support meetings, conferences, incentives and other events held in the city. Member companies and organisations – which are made up of conference facilities, hotels, travel agencies, conference organisers and services - contribute their support through direct and indirect involvement in convention events in the region.
James Kent, international marketing manager at Kyoto Convention Bureau, comments: “Kyoto has gone from strength to strength as a business destination. It offers event organisers a mix of cutting edge experiences alongside cultural attractions which is unrivalled by other cities. As the meetings and events market has grown, our members have seen the benefits of being a part of the Kyoto Convention Bureau as the amount of business they get has increased. This has shown other venues and service providers how they can tap into this lucrative market. Kyoto has great infrastructure for the meetings industry. We’re delighted that more organisations are joining and the addition of the new members will help make the city an even more attractive place to do business.”
