Chiltern Railways latest GTMC partner

The GTMC, the UK’s leading professional industry body representing travel management companies, has announced that Chiltern Railways has become the organisation’s thirtieth supplier partner and the fourth to sign up this year.

Chiltern Railways is owned by Deutsch Bahn AG and has been a UK National Rail network franchise since 1996 running scheduled passenger services along the M40 corridor between London Marylebone and Birmingham; Marylebone and Aylesbury via Amersham and Marylebone to Stratford upon Avon.

GTMC chief executive Anne Godfrey said: “The GTMC values its relationships with supplier partners and we are pleased to welcome Chiltern Railways to our organisation and especially look forward to their input to our surface transport working party.  The sale of rail tickets is a growth area for TMCs - in our quarterly transaction survey rail was the only form of transport that grew during the recessional period and we believe our rail partners receive ROI through their unprecedented access to GTMC members, who between them account for some 80% of business travel tickets sold in the UK. ”

John Davidson, business relationship manager at Chiltern Railways said:
"Since the launch of our faster Mainline services between London Marylebone and Birmingham Moor Street we have a new offering for business travel.  Not only are our services faster, but we also have free wi-fi with power points and tables at nearly every seat.   It's great to be utilising GTMC to let new businesses understand our unique and cost effective solution for business travel."

A key component of the GTMC’s success is its internal system of ‘working parties dedicated to key aspects of the business travel industry.  The GTMC surface transport working party, headed up by Ian Allan Travel’s Paul Allan aims to keep abreast of developments within the car rental, road and rail sectors as well as chauffeur drive and airport facilities for business travellers. Rail has been high on the agenda and the GTMC supports high speed rail and better rail links to airports.  The working party has been particularly active in ensuring TMCs are fully aware of current issues, such as the introduction of bonding as a requirement by ATOC and is actively involved in ongoing discussions.
