Following a highly-anticipated opening on 2 May 2017, Rudding Park Spa is delighted to introduce the UK’s first Sauna-Meisters trained in the Art of Aufguss, providing an innovative addition to its unique wellness offerings.
The Art of Aufguss is a ritual originally derived from the Red Indians of North America but it was the Germans who introduced the concept into spas. Now widely recognised as a leading wellness practice across Europe, the Art of Aufguss will be offered in the UK for the very first time at Rudding Park.
The practice involves a Master of Aufguss using essential oils to create a stimulating environment within the sauna and circulating the aromatic air using a towel-waving technique. The ritual leaves the audience both mentally and physically revived. Benefits of the practice range from a meditative state of mind to improving cardiovascular strength, boosting the immune system, as well as alleviating stress and pain.
A hot topic at the 2017 Global Wellness Summit, The Art of Aufguss and the European approach towards sauna culture was listed as their number one spa trend for 2017. Members of the team at Rudding Park Spa have been trained by Art of Aufguss Champion Lay Pang Ong who is well-regarded as a pioneer of sauna reinvention.
The Art of Aufguss will be performed in the Panoramic Sauna at Rudding Park Spa which reflects the underlying ethos of the spa, bringing the best of the outside in with views overlooking the beautiful gardens.
From 1 July, there will be an Art of Aufguss performance each afternoon at 3pm so hotel guests, spa members and those on a full spa day or afternoon spa day will be able to experience a ten-minute performance as well as enjoying another UK first, the Roof Top Spa and Garden which was designed by renowned horticulturalist Matthew Wilson and comes complete with a Hydrotherapy Infinity Pool, Garden Sauna Cabin and Spa Bath. Rudding Park Spa also offers an Indoor Swimming Pool, Sensory Zones to enhance wellness of mind body and soul, a Luxury Steam Room, treatments by ila, Elemental Herbology, Carita and Jennifer Young, a Manicure, Pedicure and Makeup Bar, Hair Studio and Horto for kitchen garden cuisine.
